It's not just Safety First at A&M Construction; it's Safety Always. All of our employees are committed to a safe work space and take an active role to ensure that safety maintains its prominent role throughout the life of a project, from pre-planning through punch list.
Projects undergo an initial safety evaluation, site safety and logistic training is conducted for all employees prior to entering a job site, tool-box talks are conducted and ongoing reassessment is achieved through safety inspections.
Safety is a major component of our subcontractor prequalification process and certain requirements, such as a written safety program, must be met prior to a subcontractor being added to our database. All subcontractors receive our Safety Overview for Contractor Personnel with their contract and are required to accept the responsibility for compliance with our safety program and all OSHA safety standards by signing and returning the Acceptance of A&M Construction's Safety and Health Program form.
For the fifth time in as many years, A&M Construction's safety program was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) through its Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP). A&M Construction was awarded the Gold Level Award in 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004, and the Silver Level Award in 2003. Award levels are based on safety statistics and a comprehensive self audit of twenty key components of the company's safety program.
Safety isn't just a byword at A&M Construction: it's commitment. All of our full-time field personnel have attended OSHA's 10-hour Safety Standards for the Construction Industry course, are qualified in CPR/First Aid and participate in regularly scheduled training. All personnel are empowered to correct safety issues on the spot.
Safe construction zones equate to more efficient project schedules, lower project costs and improved quality of life for our employees. It's the right way to run a project; it's the only way we run our business.
